An afternoon of weaving and cream tea's at the Village Fete

This month I was delighted to be invited to showcase the traditional skill of weaving at my local village fete. As a designer, I feel it is important to share my knowledge and understanding of weaving with others. When selling hand woven textiles it is terrible difficult to express the time, love and dedication that has gone into the placement of every strand of  yarn.

In which case, I decided to I bring along a selection of woven pieces as well as the loom it's self and the tools and equiptment needed to create a length of fabric. Villagers had the opportunity to see the process of creating a fabric, from design ideas to finishing techniques as well as learn simple weaving patterns such as plain weave, twill and honeycomb. Many villagers knew a great deal about weaving from their own experiences in working in Cotton mills, many years ago, so I was delighted to learn of their tales and add to my knowledge of the industry's history. Over all it was a superb afternoon and I plan to organise further "weaving"events for later this year.

Thank-you to all those who were able to come along to support me on the day and to my Auntie Lizzie, for being a great photographer.
